 "Das größte Missverständnis über uns ist, dass wir nur eine Rockband", beschreibt Linkin Park-Gitarrist Brad Delson. "Wir denken, unsere Musik ist ein Querschnitt durch viele Genres;. Ein Hybrid aus, was die sechs von uns auf gewachsen sind" Der Titel der Debüt-Album der Band und ihrem ursprünglichen Bandnamen Hybrid Theory, beschreibt sowohl die künstlerischen Ziele des Sechs-Stück und seine Herangehensweise an Musik zu machen. Linkin Park-Sound, ein Schmelztiegel der schweren Alternative-Rock, Hip-Hop und elektronische Schnörkel, ist völlig eigene, eine Leistung, gestärkt durch die bemerkenswert kraftvollen, organischen Songwriting der Band. Aber fast alles über Linkin Park wurde ungezwungen, einschließlich ihrer Southern California Herkunft.

 Origins
Die Band sah seinen Anfängen in Conferencier / Sänger Mike Shinoda kleines Schlafzimmer -Studio, wo er und Delson aufgezeichnet erste Material der Band im Jahr 1996.
